The Wheel and Brake Shop Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and functional testing of aircraft wheels, brakes, tires, and associated components in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer maintenance manuals, and Phoenix Air Group policies. This position supports multiple aircraft types operated by Phoenix Air Group and plays a critical role in ensuring aircraft safety, reliability, and mission readiness.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform inspection, disassembly, cleaning, repair, assembly, and functional testing of aircraft wheel and brake assemblies
- Replace brake linings, seals, bearings, bolts, and hardware in accordance with approved data
- Service, mount, demount, inflate, and balance aircraft tires
- Perform corrosion control, painting, and preservation of wheel and brake components as required
- Conduct component measurements, wear checks, and life-limit tracking
- Utilize calibrated tools, torque wrenches, and test equipment correctly
- Ensure all work is accomplished in compliance with FAA regulations (14 CFR), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), and Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM)
- Properly document all maintenance actions in aircraft and component records
- Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free shop environment
