The Operations Initiatives Value & Measurement team defines, measures, and promotes our progress toward our Ops Beyond 100 reliability goals.

The Analytics Leader collaborates with front-line operators, strategy teams, divisional leadership, finance, technology, and analytic professionals to develop business cases and measurement plans for the most essential strategic priorities. We are looking for data curious candidates that seek to understand process and can connect with our business partners to leverage data to drive improvement, delivering projects end-to-end: gathering business requirements, working with diverse stakeholders, and delivering results to the stakeholder without much oversight from a supervisor.

Data has transformed the way Delta operates, and the Value & Measurement team is core to our culture of accountability to value. The team leverages the data environment to deliver forward-looking insight to business leaders through a variety of analytical techniques. You’ll be empowered to drive innovative analyses using both structured and unstructured data, flagging opportunity areas every step of the way.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and vet business cases for IT Capital & AI/ML development to maximize Ops Beyond 100 value capture across all digital projects
  • Understand the business operation and how the data represents performance or process
  • Locate and extract data from a variety of sources for use in analysis, models, and project development
  • Use descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytical techniques to highlight business challenges, potential solutions, and relevant tradeoffs
  • Leverage emerging technologies and identify efficient and meaningful ways to communicate data and analysis in order to satisfy divisional needs
  • Develop and improve automated reports, analyses, or dashboards to support senior divisional leaders and the front-line employees
  • Maintain productive ways of working across cross-functional teams of technology SME’s, Ops analytics professionals, and business end users to maximize impact
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders across project portfolio

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 5+ years’ experience in Data Analytics, Decision Science, Engineering, Finance, or related quantitative field
  • Successful candidates will have familiarity and/or experience with some or all of the following: SQL, PowerBI, Python, AWS or other database interface tools and languages
  • Strong experience with PowerBI and/or other data visualization tools
  • Ability to write complex queries, joining data from multiple sources and working with large, messy datasets, to arrive at operational insights
  • Highly proficient and detail-oriented in oral and written communications, and able to deliver complex analytical narratives to senior leader audiences
  • Strong airline/ops business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively manage and deliver on many projects at once within strict deadlines
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and a change agent
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Previous experience supporting initiatives across a variety of divisions, including Crew Resources, Flight Operations, Airport Customer Service, Technical Operations, Digital, Ops Analytics, Network Planning, etc.
  • Master’s Degree in Data Science or similar analytic field OR equivalent work experience
