Pratt & Whitney (P&W) F135 Fleet Operations has a rare opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with strong communication skills – both oral and written – to support the P&W Team at Eielson AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska as a SkillBridge Field Service Engineer (FSE). This role is required onsite at Eielson AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska.

To be eligible for a SkillBridge Fellowship, you must meet the following requirements:
Must be eligible to participate in Fellowship per DoD Instruction 1322.29.
Must be projected to receive an honorable discharge from the military.
Must have all TAP and transition requirements completed prior to the start date.
Must receive approval from Unit Commander or O4+ in the chain of command.
Must be located within a commutable distance or willing/approved to relocate to the job location
What You Will Do
Responsibilities:
Become familiar with the Field Service Engineer (FSE) role and learn how FSEs support F-35A/F135 operations to include systems, tooling, material, and offboard system processes. The FSE will have hands-on interaction with the engine (software and hardware), aircraft, and squadron personnel.
Learn about the internal P&W teams and how FSEs work closely with them, e.g. Customer Support Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Center, Autonomous Logistics Information System (ALIS)), to assist unit-level customers in troubleshooting and resolving propulsion issues while maintaining flexibility to adapt to constantly changing customer priorities.
Expectations: Use self-initiative and judgment to learn how FSEs perform their daily duties, e.g. identify problems, conduct investigations to determine root cause, and coordinate solutions between P&W, the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office, and Lockheed Martin.
Qualifications You Must Have Bachelor’s degree required; Candidates without a bachelor’s degree must have an associate degree or 2-years of post-high school training and 9 years of engine/aircraft maintenance, logistics, and logistics support.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Candidates whose clearance has recently lapsed (not more than 2 years), may also apply for consideration.
Ability to travel for extended periods of time (roughly 3 months) to support customer deployments, both domestic and international.
Must have the ability to rotate first and second shift schedules as required to meet customer support and team objectives.
Qualifications We Prefer 3+ years’ experience with the F135 engine
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Background in ITAR/ITC is desired.
