Job Purpose--

In this role you will:
- To be accountable for the correct masking, stripping, abrading, applying finishing and positioning of the Airlines livery and spanings. Must be able to apply aerodynamic sealants to produce a smooth and aerodynamic finish as per the AMM (Aircraft Maintenance Manual), SRM (Structure Repair Manual) and CRM (Component Repair Manual).
- Application of coatings, monitoring the paint pumps and products during operation so as to have a continuous flow of work. Operate the Tele-platforms and other ground equipment.
- Responsible for post aircraft painting tasks to ensure all tools and equipment masking materials are removed from the aircraft and ensuring tele-platforms, stands and access equipment are clear and clean in preparation for the next input.
- To adjust and clean equipment and tools used in the restoration of aircraft finishing and materials to achieve an excellent overall finish.
- To be responsible for the correct procedures of stripping, abrading, masking, and application of finishing on aircraft components in the paint shop e.g. wheels & brakes and aircraft interior panels, plus minor re-work by applying the filler and abrading to these panels to obtain an excellent top coat appearance.
- To carry out tasks during the A & C checks in-situ (on the job) where paint work is needed to the correct rectification procedure and apply the correct Install Commercial Campaigns Decals, as required by the airline.
- Sign for tasks, actions on formal documentations verifying that work has been carried out in accordance with airworthiness standards.
- To maintain an effective and continuous communication with various levels of staff in the Paint Hangar to be able to achieve the task on hand and department objectives.
QualificationTo be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Higher / National Diploma or Apprenticeship in Engineering, Automotive or a related industry or equivalent training with a reputable airline, approved maintenance organisation or Air Force
- 5+ Experience in aircraft / component refinishing experience
- Must have knowledge of maintenance safety, human factors and general aircraft engineering practices
- Must have knowledge of aircraft manuals, engineering drawings pertaining to rework, paint finishes and application of spanings
- Must have knowledge of different coating systems with their relevant data sheets in the areas of mixing, induction times, viscosity and the application thereof.
